Managing cash flow and having a glimpse of the future is an absolute requirement for sound management in today's environment. The most effective tool for doing this is a dynamic company budget or forecast that includes a forecasted profit and loss, cash flow statement and balance sheet.
Preparing a budget and/or forecast is time consuming and can be very expensive. Most accountants and/or consultants will charge in excess of $250 per hour to prepare this information. Often times, because the consultant or accountant is using a spreadsheet program the amount of hours and dollars they accumulate in developing the data, becomes so onerous that entrepreneurs are discouraged from having these reports prepared.
